On this page will be listed albums that have been reissued on Compact
Disc.
Music, Martinis and Memories
Released
on the Toshiba EMI label in March 2002 is this
24-bit remastered reissue of the quintessential 1950s album, Music,
Martinis and Memories. Image shown is of the actual CD. The
EMI number is TOCJ-66153. Because this disc is a Japanese import,
it is relatively unknown to Gleason enthusiasts. No doubt the sound is
superb, even in the album's original monophonic pressing. The packaging is
actually a mini album sleeve. The CD is available in the United States. You can
use Amazon.com to located a dealer that has it.
Music To Change Her Mind
Released in
January 2004 by Collectors Choice Music, this disc
contains all the tracks of the original album, plus nine additional tracks recorded around the time of the original recording session, among them
non-LP singles. There are a total of 25 tracks on the CD.
Collectors' Choice Music has produced most of the Gleason album reissues on CD
over the last few years. Most of those CDs are 2 for 1--two albums on one
CD. However, EMI is also starting to release 2-for-1 CD reissues, like the one
listed right below.
Taste of Brass for Lovers Only / Doublin' In Brass
This
import double album CD was released by EMI in March 2003. Double album CDs like
this one are a tremendous bargain, especially when you consider they have been
remastered for this CD release. Gleason was known for his brassy big band
sound as much as his lush instrumentals, and two of his "Brass" albums
are collected here.
